I grew up without the web and I was not phased by its absence in my life. In some ways I think I benefited from more time outside with my imagination and less time behind a screen. Now, I cannot image a day without the internet. I use it to connect with what is happening in the world and my loved ones. I use the web to question myself and the world around me. I also watch my 5 year old son engage with reading the world through the use of the internet and other digital tools. That said, I understand how the web needs to navigated with a keen sense of scepticism. This is why I love this site created by Fire Fox to promote web literacy in people of all ages. Bottom line, we can use the internet as a wonderful digital tool as long as we are informed and aware of how it is designed.
